Frequently asked questions.
What makes your fish different from other suppliers?
At Bigeye Supply, we source exclusively from Hawaii, never from overseas producers or re-packagers. Some suppliers import tuna from places like Vietnam or the Philippines and still label it as “ahi,” but that’s not what we do. Every fish we sell is Hawaiian-caught, traceable to a specific vessel or auction lot, and handled with care from the moment it leaves the ocean.
how do i place an order?
We send out a weekly price list via email or text message, featuring what’s available and pricing by cut. Once you see what you want, just call or text us directly to confirm your order. We coordinate everything from sourcing to shipping — no complicated portals or middlemen.
how is the fish packed and shipped?
Fish are packed in insulated coolers with gel ice and a digital data logger that monitors temperature throughout the journey. They are held at <38°F from origin to delivery, including during air freight and final delivery by refrigerated truck or freight forwarder. When the shipment arrives, you can open up the app and tap the data logger to access the temperature report — ensuring the fish stayed within spec the entire time.
Can i trace where the fish came from?
Yes. Every order includes full traceability — including NOAA species codes, catch method (handline or longline), and source (auction or direct). Logger data is also accessible by app once you’ve received the order, to verify cold chain compliance. We offer QR-based traceability or downloadable PDFs, depending on your needs.
do you offer credit terms?
At this time, we operate on a prepaid or COD basis unless a credit agreement has been established in advance. If you’re interested in setting up terms, let’s talk — we’re happy to work with reliable partners.
Are your products sustainably sourced?
Absolutely. All of our fish come from fishermen and vessels that operate under the oversight of the Hawaii DLNR and the Hawaii Longline Association, which follows Marine Stewardship Council-aligned guidelines. Our sourcing methods emphasize low-impact fishing, responsible quotas, and support for generational fishing families.
